This site is a small editorial publication. I try to collect as little data as possible about the people who read it, and to be specific about what I do collect.
What I collect
I collect email addresses when you subscribe to the newsletter. That is the only piece of information I actively gather from readers. The newsletter runs on Jetpack Subscribe, so the list sits with Jetpack (operated by Automattic). If you provide your name during signup it is stored alongside the address. Both fields are used only to send you the newsletter.
I see aggregate pageview statistics through Plausible Analytics. Plausible is cookieless and does not collect personal data. What I can see is a count of page loads by URL, referrer, and country-level location. I do not see individual readers, and Plausible does not track you across sites.
The host (WordPress.com Atomic) keeps standard server access logs containing things like IP address, URL, and user agent. These exist for security and debugging. I do not use them for reader profiling.

Cookies
Reading karlbaz.com sets no first-party cookies. Open a private window, visit the home page, and your browser will have nothing from this domain in its cookie jar.
The things that do set a cookie are features you choose to use. Subscribing to the newsletter sets a Jetpack cookie so the form remembers that you subscribed. Commenting or liking a post sets a similar cookie for that action. If you don’t use those features, you don’t get those cookies.
The one third-party cookie exposure is Gravatar. Author and commenter avatars are served from Gravatar (operated by Automattic), and hovering over one opens a small profile card from gravatar.com, which can set cookies on its own domain. If that bothers you, don’t hover.
Fonts and analytics don’t phone home either. The typefaces load from karlbaz.com itself, not from Google Fonts or another font CDN. Plausible serves analytics without cookies or cross-site tracking.
What I share, and with whom
Your email address sits with Jetpack (Automattic), which processes the subscription list on my behalf. I do not sell it or share it with third parties for their marketing. I do not run ads, integrate with CRMs, or feed data brokers.
If I start using additional services that collect reader data, this page will be updated before the change ships.
Your rights
You can ask me to show you what I have on file for you, correct it, or delete it. Write to hello@karlbaz.com and I will action the request within 30 days, or explain why I cannot.
You can also unsubscribe from any newsletter email using the link at the bottom of the message.
Children
The site is written for adult professional readers. It is not directed at anyone under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If the data posture changes, this page changes with it. The current version date is at the bottom.
